VIRTUAL DISNEYLAND RECREATION

Personal Project (pure nerd stuff)

In 2018, my 15 year-old self, along with two friends who shared a similar passion for themed entertainment, began building the most realistic recreation of the Disneyland Resort in the popular game Minecraft.

What originally began as a personal project just between the three of us, an ever-growing community quick began to grow around the project, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many people were stuck at home and unable to visit their favorite familiar places.

To date, over 500,000 people have joined the multiplayer server, who have together taken 16,000,000+ rides on the various recreated attractions.

While I am now largely hands-off, over the past seven years our team has recreated nearly every attraction in the Anaheim resort. During this time, our incredibly talented team has continually pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in Minecraft — whether it be through accurate audio playback, ArtNet controlled fireworks shows, or incredible faithful ride recreations.

Nicholas Cappelloni is the other incredibly talented nerd that was with the project from the very start. I cannot stress enough how instrumental he was in both the creation and growth of the project. Linked below is his thorough write-up, and I highly encourage you to explore his page (I’ll be honest, he documents it far more comprehensively than I could).
